You wash, I'll dry...

Dish towels are fun Christmas gifts. I gave dishtowels and I received dishtowels and was happy in every way!

A couple years ago I sewed an apron for my mother in law out of the brown apple fabric you see above. And I embroidered these towels at the same time. Ran out of time to finish them (hard year as it was the second Christmas in a row that my husband was in Iraq and I was travelling alone with 4 children) but this year I pulled them out and added the fabric trim. Why don't I make some for myself? Oh I will! Soon. Someday. Maybe.
The above dishtowels I made for my sister in-law. I saw the red trim on these flour sack dish towels which got me really excited because I was already planning to make these redwork towels for her! Her kitchen is red, she loves to cook and bake. I found the above designs at Urban Threads, a website featuring hip cool embroidery designs. The one on the right was brand new and the one on the left had been around but had "Bon Appetit" below it. Didn't care for that and thought "Eat" went better with "Bake". So I used that awesome embroidery software and fixed it how I wanted! Oh yeah! Once again, I MUST make these for myself. They are so pretty! Incidentally, my sister in-law has a very fun blog and Etsy store both called Hucklebery Stew so go check her out!
I am no master digitizer by any means, but my embroidery software has allowed me to make up some pretty fun designs. I know many, many Diet Coke addicts. I know people who like Diet Pepsi more, but not as many as those who need the Diet Coke IV drip. I am one of those and so is my sister. I found a logo I liked, and fixed it up good! The best part was the chuckle she got when she opened her package. And like so many things in life, it's funny because it's true!

Saving the best for last (Well, that's debatable because what is better than Diet Coke?)
I give you the zombie dishtowel!
Once again I went to Urban Threads and this zombie thinking of a cupcake was the cutest thing ever! Now, I am not that into zombies, but my dad and brother are and the brother is married to the girl with the red kitchen who loves to bake so what is better for them!? The design came alone and I had the bleeding font on my software. I loved the grins this brought, but let me say something about this design: It took forever to stitch out! It was a tricky one! But still very cute. I advised these girls not to actually use them because I'm not sure how they will wash up. I usually wash my items before embroidering them, but didn't this time. That's how it is when you're sticthing every minute up to Christmas Eve.
